Grade 1 donates food and clothes to landslide victims

March 5, 2019

Taking action is an important element in the PYP classroom. During their “Sharing the planet” unit of inquiry, the first grade students learned how weather can affect people’s lives. After hearing and watching a video about the landslide that happened in Tana, caused by heavy rain, the first graders were deeply touched by the situation and spontaneously decided to give food and clothes to the victims of the landslide. Within only a week, the children were able to gather 65kg of rice, 11 liters of bottled water, 3 liters of oil, some canned foods, milk, and clothes. The BNGRC (the National Bureau of Risk and Disaster Management) kindly offered their support and facilitated the donation distribution to the victims.
