Tuition & Fees

The American School of Antananarivo (ASA) is a not-for-profit school and its running costs are covered by tuition and fees. The fee schedule is approved by the Board of Trustees every year. All fees are listed in US dollars.

The following services are included in the tuition fees:

  • textbooks and class materials
  • educational technology tools, including 1:1 iPads or Chromebooks in Elementary
  • class field trips
  • on campus after school and sports activities
  • access to the art, science, and design technology labs
  • access to the English Language Learning program for non-native speakers
  • access to the counseling program (socio-emotional counseling and college counseling)
  • all associated IB fees including Grade 11/12 DP Examination fees

New student fees

An application fee of $150 is payable to cover the administrative costs associated with the admissions process. If a student’s admission is denied or delayed, the application fee is valid for two academic years. The application fee is non-refundable.

New students joining ASA in Kindergarten through Grade 12 are subject to a one-time capital fee of $6,000 to cover the cost of on-going improvements to buildings and facilities. The capital fee is non-refundable.

New student deposit: The annual registration fee ($250) and the capital fee ($6,000) need to be paid upon notice of admission and prior to the student’s start date.

Payment terms

Tuition can be paid on a full-year or semester basis.

Late arrivals: For students joining during the course of the school year, invoices are issued upon notice of admission and are payable within 30 days of invoice date. Tuition cannot be prorated. Full semester tuition is due for any day of the semester attended by the student.

Other payment plans: The cost of tuition can be spread across the school year for families who find it difficult to pay tuition fees annually or per semester. Parents can submit an individual payment plan to the Finance Department. Approval of the payment plan will be at the School Director’s discretion.

Sibling discount

ASA offers a sibling discount to families with 3 or more children currently enrolled at ASA. The discount shall be applied to tuition fees only, and is applicable to families who are self-funded or to the self-funding portion of fees. The discount is available on application and evidence must be provided on self-paying status. The discount is applied to the tuition fees of the youngest child. Where there is a fourth or fifth child enrolled, the discounts shall be applied to all children after the third enrollment.

The discounts are as follows:

  • Youngest child in K-G3 = 15% discount
  • Youngest child in G4 – G6 = 10% discount
  • Youngest child in G7 – G12 = 5% discount

Payment method

All fees must be paid in U.S. dollars to the school account in the United States. We cannot accept cash payment for registration fees, capital fees, and tuition.

* Learning Support is additional small group or individual support for students with identified learning needs and Individual Education Plans. 

The following services are not included in the tuition and will be billed separately: cafeteria, bus, and sports uniforms and trips.
