Richard Reilly
Director

Prior to joining ASA, Richard served as High School Assistant Principal and IB Diploma Programme Coordinator at Hong Kong Academy. He taught General Science and Physics in his native Scotland and at International School of Manila. Richard has a BSc in Physics and Mathematics, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Strathclyde University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Management from Napier University, a Certificate of International Leadership from the Principals’ Training Centre, and an M.Ed (Leadership and Management) from the Open University (UK). He has particular interests in student leadership, global issues and service learning. Before going into teaching, Richard worked as a Counter Terrorism Analyst and Political Attaché for the British Government.

Michael Hemsley
High School Principal

Michael joined ASA as Assistant Principal and IB Diploma Coordinator, and teacher of IBDP Physics. Michael has been both teaching and working as a consultant in Digital Learning systems and Scheduling in Spain for five years.  Michael is an extremely experienced international educator with more than 20 years of experience in Spain, Hong Kong, the Philippines, the UK, and UAE, acting in both leadership and teaching positions.  Michael has also worked in event management and theater production, and for a time in the 1990s managed a pub and restaurant in his home town of Stamford, England.

Jennifer Hutchings
Middle School Principal

Jennifer worked in her native US, Turkey, and Poland as a social studies teacher, college and academic counselor, administrator and educational technology coordinator before joining ASA. She has a BA in Latin and History for Indiana University, a PGCE from Indian River State College, and a MEd in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University. This year she will serve as the Middle School Principal and Middle Years Programme Coordinator. She is excited to be an active partner with teachers, parents, and students to empower the whole community to feel included, connected, and successful at ASA.

Ben Wiggins
Elementary School Principal

After a few years teaching in the UK, Ben has been working in international schools since 1998, teaching the IB DP, MYP and PYP programmes. He has a BSC(Hons) with QTS in Physical Education and Geography from Brunel University; a MSc in Sociology of Sport (Physical Education) from Leicester University; a Certificate in School Leadership and Management from Harvard Graduate School of Education; and is presently studying for an MA in Educational Leadership at Keele University, as well as being an experienced Council of International Schools accreditation team member. Ben is an advocate for the benefits of Outdoor Education and outside of school can often be found on his bike exploring the tracks in the hills around Antananarivo.
