Welcome from the Secondary Principals

“The secondary school years are a time of significant change and growth, and involve diverse social, emotional, physical, and intellectual changes. At ASA, we are committed to guiding our students through this transformative period, and our Advisory program is a key element in this journey. Each student is paired with an advisor who knows them well and plays a vital role in nurturing their social and emotional development in both proactive and responsive ways.

In addition to our comprehensive curriculum, we offer a wide-ranging athletic and co-curricular programs. With these activities, students have many opportunities to learn and grow beyond the classroom.

Service Learning is also a significant part of the ASA educational experience, where students come together regularly to plan and implement local initiatives that address global issues. These activities not only add depth and richness to their learning experience but also allow them to apply the skills they’ve acquired throughout their educational journey.”

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) | Grades 6-10

Designed for students aged 11 to 16, the MYP provides a framework of learning that encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world. It fosters the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement—essential qualities for young people who are becoming global leaders.

The MYP consists of eight subject groups:

Personal Project

The MYP Personal Project provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned in the MYP. In MYP Years 5 or Grade 10, all students must complete the Personal Project. Each student develops a personal project independently, producing a truly personal and creative piece of work that stands as a summative review of their ability to conduct independent work.

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) | Grades 11-12

The IB Diploma Programme is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education, with final examinations, that prepares students aged 16 to 19 for success at university and in life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students. The programme has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities.

At ASA we believe that each student has their own strengths that will guide them in their pathways to individual excellence. To that end, we offer three pathways of study for students to graduate from ASA. Whether you’re looking for a flexible college preparatory program, seeking university credits for specific courses, or aspiring to join highly competitive universities, we are here to help you identify the best pathway aligned with your individual needs, academic levels, and future aspirations.
