ASA staff start the year with a collaborative workshop

January 14, 2019

While students were enjoying their last day of Christmas break, ASA faculty and administrative staff gathered together for a Collaborative Learning Day to share their learning and expertise. They were joined by 2 teachers from Ambatovy International School and 2 guest speakers: Fred Biggar, an English/Film/Theory of Knowledge teacher based in India, and Pippa Beetson, an ELL and Psychology teacher from Australia.

Collaborative workshops are part of the Professional Development opportunities available to all ASA staff members. Overall the purpose of Professional Development at ASA is to improve student learning, and help us to realize our vision by improving the kind and quality of instruction.

How to support multilingual learners in academic contexts? What are the best grouping and distribution strategies to get student groups work right? Or what are the conditions for the brain to work its best? These are some of the topics covered during the Collaborative Learning Day. Participants also explored broader topics such as positive psychology or improvisation and their possible applications inside and outside the classroom.

With positive, creative, and highly qualified teachers, we are proud to offer students and families an inclusive, supportive and engaged learning community.
