ASA COVID Safety Protocols Update

September 14, 2022

Starting from September 7, the following changes were made to our COVID protocols.

Mask wearing indoors: Although we recommend mask wearing indoors as a preventive measure, we will no longer make the wearing of masks indoors mandatory.

Preventive testing – test to stay:  We will continue to use testing to try to control the spread of COVID in our community and within grade levels. Close contacts of positive cases will be tested on day 2 and day 5 of their most recent contact with a positive COVID case.

Test to stay – mask wearing: Students and staff following preventive testing after close contact with a positive COVID case will be monitored and will be expected to wear a mask on campus indoors between day 2 and day 5 from their last contact.

Isolation for positive COVID cases: Staff and students who test positive for COVID will be expected to isolate at home for 7 days and we will require a negative test result (performed by a medical professional) before returning to campus.

The ASA COVID response team will continue to monitor the situation, gain advice from medical professionals in Madagascar,  and adapt as necessary. As always, we aim to put student learning and well-being at the centre of every decision we make, whilst also trying to balance risks to the health of all of our community.
