These experiences were initiated by the children themselves and these experiments have been and still are ongoing. The materials that the children used allowed them to have a better understanding of some concepts of Physics such as force, friction, flow, and motion. In addition to that the children worked collaboratively to design and redesign the pipes to suit their desires. They negotiated ideas, expressed their predictions, allowed themselves to make mistakes, and reflect on these experiences.

Critical thinking has been evident in these engagements which includes skills such as questioning, predicting, investigating, hypothesizing, analyzing, reflecting, revising, comparing, evaluating and forming opinions. It involves an inquiry process of exploring issues that may not be clearly defined and for which there are no clear-cut answers.
